Bollywood & Kathak Dance Classes
At Dance in Motion, we strive to make Bollywood and Kathak-style dance accessible to middle and elementary school students across the city. Our goal is to welcome students into a space where they can be part of a community of people who are all learning and discovering a passion for dance, history, and culture together.

Founder & Lead Instructor
Reyna Shah is a student at Riverdale Country School who has been dancing since she was 4 years old, beginning with Bollywood dance and adding Kathak when she was six.
As she advanced in her dance career, Reyna wanted to share her passion with younger kids who may have never heard of these styles before. She launched Dance in Motion, an after school program for children ages 7–14, incorporating stretching, cultural lessons, and dancing into each class to spread the joy of Indian dance and culture.
As a high school student, Reyna strives to be a mentor to her students and make every lesson different and engaging. Her goal is to make each student feel joyful and excited to come to class each week, learning something new along the way.
Our Program
Dance in Motion offers weekly dance classes for students ages 7–14, exploring two vibrant South Asian dance traditions — Bollywood and Kathak. No prior experience is needed. Just bring your energy and willingness to learn!
Learn the high-energy, expressive movements of Bollywood dance — a fusion of classical Indian styles, folk dance, and modern choreography inspired by the world of Indian cinema.
Discover Kathak, one of India's major classical dance forms, known for its intricate footwork, graceful spins, and storytelling through movement, gesture, and expression.
Beyond the steps, students explore the rich cultural heritage and history behind the dances — building appreciation and connection to South Asian art and traditions.
Dance in Motion is more than a class — it's a community. Students build friendships, grow in confidence, and support each other through every performance and rehearsal.
